Your Internet marketing strategy should also focus on getting customers to visit and then return to your
website. Listing with search engines is just one part of that process. You should use a combination of on-
and off-line methods to market your business.
Add your website's URL (domain name) on every piece of business correspondence, including business
cards, letterhead, invoices--everything that you use to communicate with customers.
Add your web address to your email signature if you have one. If you don't, create one with your name,
business, phone number and web address.
Add your web address to everywhere you advertise your name, i.e., newspapers, magazines, etc.
Everywhere a potential customer sees your name, they should also see your web address.
Produce an email newsletter and place a subscription box for it on your home page. You get subscriber's
name and email address, you communicate with them regularly and you can drive them to your website
from the newsletter. They receive useful information that they can use and share with their friends.
Remember to send your newsletter on time.
Link to other websites that your customers visit. Research other businesses that provide complementary
products and services. Offer a link to their website if they will link to yours. This will exponentially increase
traffic to your website.
Reward frequent visitors and referrals. Repeat customers are what you're after because they know your
business and will refer you. Remember that it costs less to keep an old customer than it does to get a new
one. Offer special incentives to repeat customers and to customers who refer new customers to you.
Don't pass up on any opportunities to advertise and promote your website. Every customer you work with,
provide services to, everyone who uses your products, is a potential candidate for a website link. It may not
always be appropriate or possible, but it doesn't hurt to ask.
Check out your competitors web sites. See what they're doing. Visit their websites regularly and note what
promotions they are running and what else they are doing to market their businesses. If they're smart,
they're watching you too.
